OMG. Wow. I was expecting Kabuto, but didn't think we'd see Orochimaru so soon!
It sounds like we'll be learning more about Yamato soon and how he got his techniques.
What's with Naruto's face coming off in the preview? Yikes! So excited for the double episode next week!

This is setting up a very interesting tactical situation... both sides were prepared for a fight, but against a different opponent than has emerged... however neither side was able to prepare the ground with traps etc. for fear of alerting their target to their intentions. It is essentially a meeting engagement.
I think it was a mistake on Yamato's part to signal for his team to emerge... while admittedly they've already found the ultimate target of their mission (Oro), I have to imagine the plan would have involved more than just a four man team to take on Oro in his lair had their obtained merely information on his whereabouts. My only thought is that poor planning meant he had no signal for "abort" and no rally-point defined for the team, which is less than I would expect from an experienced ANBU member. (Of course, retreat now might not be as interesting from a plot-no-jutsu perspective, but still...)
The thing is though.... given what we saw in episode 1, is it actually possible that they defeat Orochimaru here and now and move on to get Sasuke alone???

Holy crap, Naruto is going to need medical attention... The thing is though.... given what we saw in episode 1, is it actually possible that they defeat Orochimaru here and now and move on to get Sasuke alone??? I think it's very possible. Naruto w/ the 9-tails is now stronger than Jiraiya. I think that withdrawing wasn't an option. Orochimaru and Kabuto are too strong to be able to withdraw from effectively, especially since Orochimaru's techniques work very well in tracking in the forest. At the point when Orochimaru showed up, I thought "don't kill Kabuto, maybe he'd be of use to Naruto and the others." Then the ruse was lifted. I like his facial expression when he saw Naruto.

Isn't it Naruto with 4-tails is stronger than Jiraiya?
I don't think there's anyway Naruto or even Sakura would have withdrawn even if Yamato had told them to.
