Had you seen that story before? I think I first saw it almost a month ago.
Yeah, it is a bit freaky I guess... last I checked though, 2 out of 3 men (I presume they were men) weren't TOO freaked out... which is perhaps a bit freaky in an of itself
I dunno though... alot of other professions have been partially or completely mechanized since the industrial revolution... why not the oldest profession?

I had read about it on slashdot, but I didn't see a picture of it. The appearance is a bit freaky (what's with the hands?), but from what I read there is hardly anything it does other than sit there. So I know you might have been a little eager, but there's a ways to go before the profession in question will be mechanized.

Being somewhat of a sci-fi and anime fan, I can't say that the idea of female robots surprises me. In some sense I'm surprised that it's taken this long to get this far.
What I found a bit freaky is that "Before Repliee Q1Expo, Professor Ishiguro developed Repliee R1 which had the appearance of a five-year-old Japanese girl." (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4714135.stm).

I just happen to have been watching that DVD of Excel Saga earlier today. Somehow that makes this more disturbing.
